This is a Palestinian poem originally composed by Ibrahim Tuqan and set to music by Muhammad Fuliefil in 1934. It has become the natoinal anthem for Palestine and Iraq. Its immediate significance is that this is the national anthem that replaced the old Saddam anthem when he was deposed. It is interesting to note that this poem was written during the Arab revolt in Palestine before the formation of Israel 14 years later. The video contains the music of Ilham al-Madfai, who is an Iraqi singer, and image of Iraq. It has english subtitles but I won't guarantee they are the same as my translation cuz I found the video after the fact. Also, not to deny the originally Palestinian nature of this song, I've included an audio file of the song as originally composed.
